Take Me Out to the GHC Auction!
Have you ever wondered what the GHC Auction is all about?
My name is Beth Annema and I have 4 boys that go to GHC. My husband, Tim, also teaches in the middle school. We love Christian education and in particular, Grand Haven Christian! When we first moved to Grand Haven, we did not attend the auction each year because we had some preconceived notions that auctions were only for certain people and that it wouldn’t be fun. After a couple years though, we decided we should give it a try and we loved it! We found there to be a fun, entertaining atmosphere where we could hang out with friends and support our great school. We also found there were items we could bid on without breaking the bank, games we could play, and a free dinner! We haven’t missed an auction since.
Four years ago, I was asked to help with the auction. I was one of the callers for donations. I enjoyed finding new items, new ideas and working with some fun businesses. Two years ago, I was asked to chair the auction. I was a little nervous taking on that responsibility, but I armed myself with a great group of people who worked together to achieve a successful night, where we raised money for our school.
The auction is a lot of fun. It does require a lot of work from a team of committed volunteers, but is rewarding knowing that this is the school’s biggest fundraiser. It is only successful when people in our awesome community step up by attending, giving, donating and spending!
We are trying a few new things this year with business sponsorships. Highlighting businesses and individuals who give faithfully to GHC is important. Sponsoring businesses receive an ad in our auction booklet and signage at the event, as well as social media plugs. If you would like to sponsor us this year, please send me an email at email@example.com.
We will also have the same stuff we all love like the Buy-a-Line tables, grab bags, the match funds table, silent auction, bid boards and the beloved LIVE auction. If you don’t know what any of these things are, stay tuned…. More information to come via the GHC Blog!
