Mrs. Linda DeBoer
I graduated with a BA in Elementary Education from Calvin College. I have a Master’s Degree in Reading from Western Michigan University. I have a second Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from WMU.
I have taught my whole career at Grand Haven Christian School, full and part time, in 1st or 2nd grade.
I have been married to my wonderful husband Tom for 40 years. We have one daughter Kristina, who with her husband Andrew, have three wonderful children. I enjoy traveling boating, skiing and spending time with my family and friends.
A favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11- “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” This is a comforting verse to know that the Lord has plans for my life and that He is in charge. Therefore, I do not have to worry.
Integration of Faith in the Classroom:
I teach in a Christian manner at all times during the day. Whether we are having devotions, dealing with a student’s inappropriate behavior, or studying any of the subject areas we cover. We begin each day with devotions. Many times our devotions result in teachable moments in which we have wonderful discussions about how we can apply a Bible passage or a Biblical truth to our everyday life. The greatness of God comes through when we are studying science and can see how God adapted animals to live in many different habitats. In the language arts area, we praise God for the gift of communication, whether it be speaking, writing, or reading. Math shows God’s orderliness. In all of the subject areas, the greatness of God comes through. We discuss the wonders of God’s creation and how it relates to subject areas that we are discussing.
My grandchildren say I am a crazy Sea-Doo driver.
