Personal Biography:

I grew up in Grand Haven and had the privilege and joy of attending Grand Haven Christian School.    I am so pleased that my family can now experience some of the same blessings I had at GHCS.  My family includes my husband, Paul and my two sons, Jacob and Caleb.  Oops, forgot our pet rabbit named Copper.  Paul is a builder and has built many things for the classroom.  He shares in my passion for Christian education.  Serving on the Building and Grounds Committee and coaching the Sailors in basketball have both been blessings for him.  My oldest son, Jacob, is currently in 7th grade.  He loves tinkering with all things electrical.   Caleb is in 4th grade and is our numbers guy.   GHCS has done a great job in helping my kids develop their gifts and their faith.  Our family loves to bike, camp and travel together.

My favorite verse is found in 1 John 3:1.  It says, How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!  And that is what we are!

Integration of Faith in the Classroom:

Recently a student asked me why I am always smiling. First graders are curious and full of questions! I can’t help but bubble over with happiness. I have the joy of the Lord in my heart and I get to share it with God’s precious little ones! When I read a Bible story, the kids sit attentively and groan when we have to stop. When we pray for each other and praise God, the kids join in with such enthusiasm. When we explore the world God made, as a class we stand in amazement at how wonderful God is. When we work in our small groups, learning different things and in different ways,  we honor God with our gifts and understand our unique abilities. When we finish each day, we have experienced God and His love in so many ways! If you peek in to my classroom you will probably see that same smile on my face. It is such a blessing and privilege to educate minds and shape hearts for service to God in His world.

Fun Fact:

I love to travel and explore God’s beautiful creation!  I have been to 21 different states along with Australia and England.
