Young Fives

I believe all children are Children of God! They are precious in His sight and it is a privilege to be able to work with them. Their smiles and laughter are contagious and it is an absolute joy being around them each day. Being able to pray and talk about Jesus with my students is a gift that fills my heart each day! My prayer is that we will grow together in Christ throughout the year.
I graduated from Calvin College in 1991 with a B.A. degree in elementary education. My emphasis is in Language Arts and Spanish. I also earned a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Western Michigan University.
I taught middle school language arts at San Jose Christian in California for one year before accepting a position as a 2nd grade teacher at Hudsonville Christian School. I spent 7 years teaching at Hudsonville Christian, where I formerly was a student. It was an amazing experience.
Following my time at Hudsonville Christian, I made the decision to stay at home with my 3 children. After 11 years at home, I returned to education as a Young 5’s/Kindergarten aide at Grand Haven Christian School. This was such a blessing as my children attended the school. This experience reignited my love for teaching!
During a challenging time, I temporarily stepped away from teaching to care for my youngest son who was diagnosed with a serious illness.  This experience deepened my faith and reminded me of God’s presence even in difficult times. After my son’s recovery, I returned to teaching as a private teacher for a family, providing faith based education as I taught Young 5’s and 1st grade simultaneously.
In 2021, I was thrilled to rejoin Grand Haven Christian as a Young 5’s teacher!
My husband, John, and I have 3 amazing children, Parker, Alexandra, and Brooks. We love boating and traveling as a family. I spend much of my free time cooking/baking. I also love to take long walks and enjoy God’s creation.

Deep Hope

My deep hope is, together we will explore, wonder, and be curious, We will delight in who God has made us to be, marvel at what He has created, explore our place in His world.
